Introduction
Artificial intelligence is rapidly permeating into our daily lives, offering solutions from automating routine tasks to assisting in making complex decisions. One of the groundbreaking tools currently gaining attention is ChatGPT, a conversational language model that can simulate human communication in real-time. Users worldwide benefit from it, but few realize the potential health consequences associated with prolonged and compulsive use of such technologies. This article aims to explore the impact of ChatGPT on the mental health of users, focusing on aspects such as anxiety, burnout, and sleep disorders.
What is the SOR Model?
The SOR model, which stands for Stimulus-Organism-Response, is a psychological concept used to analyze the interaction between external stimuli and the internal response in an organism, ultimately leading to a specific reaction. In the context of ChatGPT’s influence, this model can be used to assess how exposure to various types of content (Stimulus) processed by the human mind (Organism) leads to changes in behavior or emotional state (Response). In particular, we can examine how interactions with ChatGPT can affect the generation of feelings of anxiety or burnout and how these emotional states may translate into sleep problems.
Research Methodology
The study was conducted on a group of 2602 ChatGPT users in Vietnam. The selection of this group was not random – it allows for examining the impact of technology in developing markets, where access to new technologies is often a prominent event. Structural equation modeling (SEM) methodology was used, enabling the simultaneous examination of relationships between latent variables such as user emotions and habits. The collected data included the time spent using ChatGPT, the intensity of usage, and the variety of topics discussed in conversations.
Research Findings
The analysis indicated a direct impact of compulsive use of ChatGPT on the mental health of users. In particular, an increase in the levels of anxiety and emotional burnout was observed, leading to sleep disorders. The study also revealed indirect relationships – higher levels of anxiety and burnout were directly linked to increased sleep problems and an overall decrease in quality of life. The identified correlations suggest that interacting with AI, while fascinating, comes with serious health challenges.
Conclusions and Implications
The research findings point to the need for vigilance and responsibility in the way we interact with AI tools. It is essential for society to be aware of the impact these technologies can have on our mental health. Maintaining balance and conscious usage can mitigate potentially negative effects. This study also underscores the need for further empirical research on the mental health of AI tool users, which may lead to more consciously designed and user-friendly AI systems.
Summary
In summary, interacting with AI tools like ChatGPT can bring benefits as well as challenges to mental health. It is crucial to maintain balance and awareness in using such technologies. The results of this study encourage reflection on how we use AI tools in everyday life and emphasize the urgent need for further research to understand the full spectrum of AI’s impact on our lives.
